Is this a smoke alarm or sprinkler or both?

As in the title, which is it?

I'm carrying out an EICR and there is a circuit labelled 'smokes' but I am not used to seeing these in a domestic house. This is in a block of flats.

Does look a bit odd my only thought is if it is a sprinkler it is a bit close to the smoke detector and would stop the water reaching part of the room.

Whenever I've seen an emergency light on a smoke detector it's been on the head as for a neon even the old ones from the 70's have had a small neon built in nothing as chunky as that.

That is a Part 1 smoke detector. Nothing to do with em ltg or sprinkler systems.

No it will be an led activation indicator.

Oh! thanks for that I like the OP have never seen them as big as that on detectors.
