did you take any pics of the job . was it loop in at the switch or pendant or was it j/box cabling .

So you are going to waltz off leaving the live and neutral reversed then??
Either live and neutral are reversed in the full circuit, or more likely there is an incorrectly wired junction box in the ceiling of the 1 story flat roofed extension. To start pulling down ceilings without notifying the owner is a bit like going to collect a car from a service and finding they have changed the gearbox without telling you.

Yeah suppose so, bit of an inflammable mixture really.

Yes, my recommendation to the landlord is to do a full EICR specifically looking for loose connections during testing as the only connection that did not need tightening in the double switch and ceiling rose was the factory ones in the ceiling rose, so what is the rest of the building or specifically the lighting circuits like?

No pictures. Just a single 2 core cable to the ceiling rose, and a single 2 core cable used as a switch wire so it is supplied from a junction box, and the second light in the double switch is wired the same way (no permanent live in the switch), so another junction box probably with the other cables.

what's the betting he will get some body in after you ,to reactive the job.
opening a can of worms.

I will have to wait for instructions from the landlord, but it would make sense to have the electrician that has concerns over the installation do the EICR. It may just be a problem in this extension, which would be a relief, or there may be an indecation of problems over the full house. I suspect the landlord has not been doing the 5 yearly EICR.

was their test label on cu.and, did you check mains bonding to see if its up to scratch
will indicted that it not done.

They may do, but they have found an electrician they trust that is not going to recommend unnecessary work. They may try and cut costs, but I believe they will do the right thing.
