So doing site handover yesterday and a problem over here has always been connections to Condenser Units. So over the years I have always done the below in flexi

Got a call this morning from our client to meet them at a building that was completed 18 months ago and was faced with this

Mr Malcolm we would like you to fix this, this turns out to be about 130 units. At the moment here I seem to be doing a lot of "extras" for nix, so hoping that karma will come round soon in the future and pay me back

Lol, rather you than me, working for free doesn't do it for me. If they want incidental works doing I'd give them a decent rate but there's a limit to how much I'd pay forward.

What happened to the cable? Is that just sun and weather damage over a 3 year period?

Who did the job in the 1st place ??
If there having you in to sort it then surely you do so at a price, your not a registered charity !!
Personally I have always used swa with weatherproof packs but flexi armour works for me too.
The A/C guys get away with SY on there inter connections anyway!!

Am I missing something here ??
A client has told you they have aprox 130 of these units wired this way.
They have asked you to sort it, and you intend doing it F.O.C in the hope that at some point Karma will reward you.
I MUST be reading this wrong surely ????????

If not !! I would say F.R.O not F.O.C.

I know where your coming from but things are slightly different out here. I can't tell you what I'm working on but just to say the project is worth in excess of 5 billion, honestly 5 billion.

Infrastructure side is about 79 million and electrical approx 11-12 million.

It is a little game we all play here where the client because of the culture gets to think we do something as a "freebie". With CoC so strigent and rightly so, gone are the days when a fleet of Mercs turn up as "company cars" and trips to Europe for meetings just happen to be in the South of France.

When we risk log the project we add about 10-15% in for things like this, invariably it evens itself out. All equipment is approved by the client, ie say for instance Liebert UPS. well I may want 6 UPS and normally lead time is 14-16 weeks. Liebert may say we can't deliver in that time. We have to go to the client for a change request to get say an ABB.

He can rightly say no, it has to be Liebert and then we are hit with delay penalties. By doing these little jobs it smooths things out. It is all part of the project, the project is worded for FM to include incidentals up to a certain amount without a change order and these jobs always come under incidentals
