Hi All,

I’ve just joined and thought I would throw this out there. I have got my initial sign off (I hope) with the NIC’ next week.

Any advise or tips? What can I expect? Most concerned about the questions they might throw at you and what you have to do to fail.

Hi, I think for existing electricians who are just having the annual renewal it is verbally, but for newbies it’s still the full face to face assessment. All be at a distance.

I’ll let you know after. To be fair it’s the least of my concern at the moment
if the NICEIC rolls up at my door at this present time and you get off them or visa versa will they for you to sit at home 2 weeks quarantine no monies coming in ,me dont think saw

Doing/Leaving an installation dangerous/unsafe might get a fail but unlikely.
Questions from memory seemed to be tailored to the sort of work we did at the time and new/recent regs!

we have our annual assessment in a week and no it’s not done over the phone, a full days assessment is planned along with site visits - applying social distancing rules of course! This eliminates a number of possible sites to visit!

With the normal domestic type site visits I don't think it would be reasonable to ask a customer to let you and a stranger to them wander round their home as things stand at the moment, it can be a bit awkward at the best of times.

They don't want you to fail. If you show you are competent, they will assist you with any questions asked. Just have plenty of tea/coffee and biscuits ready, all your paperwork etc it'll be fine.

Rather than taking the attitude of, ‘it doesn’t matter if I don’t know they just want my money and I’m in’ take the time to brush up on your knowledge, learn the procedure of initial verification and testing , why we select equipment the way we do and actually impress the assessor, all the best pal, In your assessment.

AC or your English 'DI'? The assessments are different for each scheme.
