I have to agree with Lucian here, simply not worth the risk.

If you do want to do something to help you could try and see where the junction box(es) for the existing lights might be located, but until the installation is understood by whoever will fix it then I would leave out any testing.

It also looks like there's no other earth's (cpc's) at your switch so although you've done the right thing with your new cable, your downlights won't be earthed.

Look closely at the photo, the existing CPCs are in a green sleeve connected to the earth terminal.

Ok so how would I know if this is possible with my set up I have a electric tester thing would that tell me if I have a neutral

What is this thing that you speak of? Is it a two-probe voltage tester, or a multimeter?
Or is it some sort of contactless magic wand?

Hopefully, 'the electric tester thing' is the spark he's getting in to sort things.

I would like this 3 way switch wired up but have no idea how I took off a 2 way switch and fitted a 3 way switch in its place I have ran a new cable for the two down lights I'm trying to power. The other two old cables are powering a downstairs light and a top of the stairs light.

Try drawing a wiring diagram from what you can see. It might help to clarify what's what.

I see it now, with the gamma adjusted on my screen. If the cables do all have CPCs that is a good start, but skill and judgement are still required to work out how to reconfigure to free off one core, if it is even possible, to serve as a neutral to the new lights.

Yes, I can just make out some dark/dirty green sleeve in the background which presumable has the 3-way cable's earths.

I guess the lack of the yellow stripe on the green puts the wiring as pre-80s?

Just looked it up, was 1977 when the yellow/green combination was included the (then) IEE wiring standards.
