I personally think artistic pylons are a really good idea.
Electrical supplies that blend with the landscape sounds good to me.

Picture number 4, the pylons that look like sails are my favourite.

I personally think they all look good on paper as artistic pieces, but as for practicality and cost never mind how they would look in years to come after weathering?
The old design has stood the test of time and is still doing it's job and has to some degree been accepted by the general public IMHO.
But basically if it aint broke, don't fix it, as they say.

However they are designed, they are still an eyesore. I know its costly but shove it all underground for me.

It's not just the cost of installing HV cables underground but if there is a fault, which is more likely due to insulation becoming damaged, it will cost loads more because of costs to find fault, dig up and the time of interruption to supplies which carry a hefty fine!

This disused 'new' tunnel was fun walking through apart from some spanners lobbing rocks down one of the air shafts we just happened to be under.

I think plans are a foot to make use of Woodhead again as a rail link. I can’t remember where I read it though.
