Why not grant senior members and above automatic entry to the ARMS? after all when you have made a lot of posts the mods should have a feel for wether you,re a sparks or not,at present the only way to gain entry is to post details on find a spark section.there must be quite a few like myself who are either retired or work for a firm and dont want to put up details but would love to discuss things away from joe public.

I wouldn't see a problem with any member who provides alot of positive input to the forum and a PM to any of the guys at the top would probably let you in through the backdoor of the arms, either that or create a seperate club with automatic entry at say 500 or 1000 posts which has members viewing only....... could call it the posties club. ;0)

The doors to the Arms are open to anyone who is a regular contributor.

99% of the PM's i get requesting access are authorised, although there are the 1% then are either missed due to getting so many pm's or from members needing to contribute a little more.

I don't think 'automatic' entry to anything is a good idea, otherwise we get some joker coming on in the middle of the night when there are no mods on, starting a thread and posting "post 1" "post 2" etc until they get their required post count, doing whatever shenanigans they had planned, and running away before the sun comes up.

I've never been a 'man with a van' type of sparks either; I think the arms was going for about a year before standards were lowered and I was allowed to sneak in.
