Hi ashamed to say since ive left college ive forgotten a lot of the calcs as i work directly under engineers in a contracting firm so have never had the need to use them really bar cable calcs which is relatively basic in most cases,

can you clever engineer types possibly list a few of the good ones that you regularly use please???

like voltage drop, diversity, how you ensure circuits will meet maximum permitted zs etc

(the reason i ask is im still torn between continuing my education toward design and calculation and would like a reminder and im not being lazy all my books are on my mates van and all notes i have are at my mothers house)

cheers

where's your mother live, australia? and is your mate's van on a round the world tour?

Fuzzy that was a bit of a fail on lmgtfy =-)

To do the wind up, type the question into lmgtfy that you think they should have asked.

Lmgty will then give you a link.

Post that link.

This should explain how it works:

this is a good site but alot of you need to get lives lol i feel sorry for you

thought it wouldve been interesting to see the calculations engineers use day to day on a thread but never mind and telextrix over ten thousand posts if only posts were friends then you would have a life lol

Where abouts in Wales do you live Peter?
I may be able to give you some pointers.
As for Tel, he comes from Chester, where it is still legal to shoot a Welshman if he is found within the City walls after dark.

peter, sorry if my sense of humour didn't work on you. just couldn't resist it, mate. just that we get so many posts asking to do homework for guys who've said " would look it up myself, but my regs are in the van/ at work/ etc.", when what they really mean is " i can't be arsed".ask me anything specific, mate and i'll be happy to give a sensible answer ( if i know it) , beer intake permitting.

You asked a broad question, do you really expect somone to spend hours writing out all the relevant stuff when there are tons of websites with the info in already?

Peter do us a favour, go search those websites get all the formulae and start a new thread along the lines of:

These are the equations I use at work, which others do people use?

Show some effort and add to the group, don't just take.
