Slow on the work front then RS?

I think the site is ok mate, only points I'd give would be to possibly change the red lettering on the industrial page, just looks to dark & heavy (if you know what i mean).
Think about a page showing off some pic's of your work & showing the faces of the company employees (customers like to see who they may be talking to), a portfolio type thing.

Have a word with DAN the moderator/creator here, he's big on the web front & gave me some pointers , that I have yet to put into practice as my site is looking a bit dull :(

a few pictures of topless models could work...

The dark background with yellow/red/blue text is not a happy solution, trust me.

It's too agressive for the eye.
Make it simple, a very discrete gray backround with black text, it will look much better. Otherwise visitors might consider your site a carnivall of colours.

hope it helps ;)

PS: plage your logo in the top left corner, it makes the site look better and not amateur built ;)

It's funny, I thought of the light background, dark text already... but its very common among our competitors, so decided against it in the end.... Will have a think about changing around the colours.

Yup, but in the end it's about how easy and fast clients get the information, they are not judging it only by the looks of the website.

In the end you can make it easier for the visitors' eye ;)

just taken a look this morning, looks good to me i,d make the contact details stand out slightly more ,but i could be wrng

Hi Joel - I've had a look around your site and have a few comments:
Try the dark text on white background - there's a reason your competitors do it, because it works.

You've got some good testimonials, so make the most of them (although I personally wouldn't use the word 'references' just something like "here's what some of our satisfied clients have said about us...") and if you can make them stand out even more (italics or diffferent text/background, they'll be more obvious.

Finally, have you thought about trying to have a name/email capture device on your site, so that you build a list of potential clients? They're not expensive to set up and if you offer something free, people will be keen to leave their details (try something like "10 things you must know before hiring an electrican") Put together short free report, plugging your business of course, and then you have something to offer, in return for their details. Why should somebody hire you instead of your competitors? What makes you stand out? Answer it in your free report.

Cheers, Dave

I agree with the others saying to make it light and dark text, read up on science behind colour schemes, etc and what people prefer. Although being different is good.

I think in the early stages concentrate on getting eyes on the site, how many hits do you get? if loads but little feedback or requests for quotes etc then something is wrong.
Some people like info straight away ball park figures, very difficult I know but just to create interest provide some guesstimates.

I would also provide an online form, some people would rather communicate via email to start with.

Get registered with google maps (if not already)

The way the web works is through link popularity and good content, good links on topic are best from like minded sites. Unless you give something useful not many are likely to link to you, the ones that do, ie some directories usually have a no follow tag, in other words although you see links to your site, the search engine spiders do not.

I provide a few online calculators, volt drop, ohms law stuff etc, this makes it more likely someone would link to me, in fact a few colleges have.

I think your site is good content wise, loads of keywords etc.

All you need are links in. Then employ an 'artist' to make the site look pretty, it's no use having a masterpiece if no one sees it.

I'm no artist, my site looks a bit ****e to be honest but it does ok in search engines and I get 2/3 leads per day, so for now it will do.

What's your website out of interest? I'm quite keen to look at what terms you've optimised for. Our main one is Bath + Electricians...

Its a nice website and is ranking for your the term * electricians in Bath* . I notice your Google local is not ranking and you should work on that a little - check this blog for help - RB Grant Electrical - blog - local business google maps optmize your site

You need to get more links for the site - check your competitors using siteexplorer

You need to work a little on your title tags , the blue bit at the top , 70 characters including spaces and should include your keywords relevant to that page .

I love this web site analytics SEO Tools, SEO Analysis, SEM/Online Marketing Blog - Web SEO Analytics which well help .

Hope this helps and good luck
