Automatic Gyroscopic Laser Level

Do they all automatically stay level? Thought a tripod was used that has a bubble in it, I didn't realise they did them like this. And for the money too!

You have to sit them somewhere near to level and they do the rest for you.

Yup...set them up somewhere close to level and they sort themselves out. Very useful bit of kit, especially for getting your downlights in a row, never mind your sockets, and essential for cable drops too.
Also, laser measures are very useful in a number of ways. I love a laser!

Yes excellent bits of kit, I have a couple of them and for setting out they save a lot of faf!
Amazing how cheap and accurate some of them are!!

They are one of the "cool to have" things I would like to get, but I hardly ever need one and my own flat, my sisters & parents semi-detached homes, are all of Victorian age and practically nothing is horizontal/vertical!

Same as mine. Suitable detector gives it a range of 30m or so (haven't needed further) outdoors, even in bright sunlight.
Had a £18 Lidl one for a year or two before, that I couldn't fault, but needed to upgrade for the 150m of underground drains I've dug in over the last couple of years

It comes with a magnetic mount.
Funnily enough before you started this thread I'd just ordered the threaded rod and nuts from Toolstation to build one of these because I'm too tight to pay for the adjustable pole.

Huepar is good kit, one of mine is a Hue!

It's been excellent and will Project a fair way and will do all around which is very useful for kitchens.
Mine didn't come with a tripod but I have an old one that came from another laser that was the same mount.

I actually made some magnetic L brackets that the laser attached to as it would on a tripod.
It was nearly free, a cut in half floodlight bracket with some neodymium magnets metal glued onto it!
Comes in handy for commercial steel framed buildings!!

Oddly enough the joiner where I was working this morning has one from the same brand, different model, that @Dan linked to and he's very pleased with it.
Can't fault it and apparently it does stuff that much more expensive ones can't.

I might get one then I was looking out for some negative feedback on it but it doesn't seem to have issues. For the price it'll be handy for what tiny bits of tiling I do if nowt else.

I have the Bosch Professional GCL2-55 and used it for a 3 wall backsplash with pencil tile in a kitchen and several sets of shelving that went around a corner or two... This is not the best model, but it worked great. Worth every penny. Still double checked it with various levels... it was pretty much on the level.

If it was pretty level, especially over a short distance, then I wouldn't agree that's its worth every penny.

The laser is perfect, the wonky sockets are due to my bad workmanship.

If it was pretty level, especially over a short distance, then I wouldn't agree that's its worth every penny.

it was on the level... had no problems with it. My first one and it was pretty easy to use.

Easy to check accuracy. Mark a line on a wall close to the laser and one on a wall much further away. Move the laser to the far position, turn it through 180 degrees and line it up with the mark nearest it. The difference between the original mark and the laser beam is the error over twice the distance between the two positions.

Yes agreed, Huepar are a good reliable green laser for the price and you don't need the all signing dancing version. Spend any spare money then on Huepar mounting brackets. There are a more than a few options.

I bought this one from Amazon back in 2021 and wouldn't be without it . . . .






Also bought a tripod to go with it from Amazon. It can be a bit of a faff adjusting the 3 leg heights right but worth it in the end.




I'm pretty certain it was less than 50 quid for the lot.

I have a couple of adjustable props, a bit like light weight acrow props, that I use instead of a tripod, if I'm indoors. These have 1" vertical steel tubes that the magnets in my DeWalt level will clamp on to at the desired height.

Yes I have a pole as well, they are very useful!
Mine was a cheap one from Toolstation but still does an excellent job.

Holy sugar! 16 effin lines!! Didn't even know they exists that did that. That's a tilers wet dream! I must go post this!

Bet when I do they all say they've got one but I swear I've never seen on that did that!

For tiling that's still fine on a stand or something as the door wall you would address on its own just from a datum point or line. Which once you've done 3 walls is, well if you've done it level any one million grout lines.

Flipping ebay and amazon saying 4d really really annoys me. People should leave bad feedback saying they never felt it activated any 4th dimension.

The if it gave off those exact lines the laser wouldn't work surely. Unless you can spin the top but not sure the point of that.

Mate when you next set it up can you do me a short video for the forum using your phone. Then upload it to the forum and I'll add it to this thread. I'll try find the same thing on amazon as I haven't got ebay affiliate going yet but eventually will have a "brilliant Ebay and amazon buys over the years" thread and go find existing ones and also find new gems as they are on there.

The 22 tonne digger is definitely a formidable weapon, I know that. Has a timber handling attachment that chops through a sizable tree, and can swing it around like giant fly swat. (Not too clever when there's 11kV power lines a bit closer than you think, but that's another story)

Essential for plotting level sockets when the screed is yet to be poured, and lots of incidental "because I have it" uses... Straight downlight lines and the other day I was fitting modular lights with those flopsy surface boxes, the two 90 lines painted on the ceiling made it a doddle to both fit the box square while lining it up with the others!

If you haven’t figured this out yet—I’m late to the reply—there are numerous models and price ranges, with their own usefulness. Yes they have internal gyroscope but some models need a certain percentage of close to level, depending on limits of internal gyroscope.
A simple “dot” laser will place a dot above, below the laser to transfer plumb/level above and below. Next step is line laser, paints lines on a minimum of one plain, up to 4. Then you get into the big dollar lasers: rotating laser tools. These typically are used with tripods. Spins in horizontal plane on tripod, or, vertical if you lay them on their side on the floor.
Most lasers need to be calibrated annually to ensure everything is as it should be. This is done by manufacturers, and some charge for it. Look over your warranty terms/conditions, pricing and laser capabilities, and see how that matches up to the applications you would use mostly and weigh also those applications you use occasionally. They do save time and frustration of removing plumb bobs and all other sorts of layout tools. In my experience, 98% of the time they stay accurate within the manufacturers specs without calibration. Dropping them etc, is most reason why they may fall out of alignment internally. The shock resistance of a tool is another feature that manufacturers boast of and charge more for. Just weed thru the marketing and confirm specs and warranty before you commit.

I bought the Huepar S03CG-B from Amazon. It has one 360 degree horizontal laser and two vertical 360 degree lasers: this 360 degree arrangements is more versatile than cross line lasers. The green colour is more visible than red lasers.
I have checked the accuracy in horizontal and vertical planes and the laser level is well within the declared tolerance. The declared accuracy is +- 1/9 inch (+- 0.11 inches) at 33ft: actual measured accuracy was +-0.050 inches at 33 feet.
With the aid of a receiver, this can be used outside.
The lock position is useful for setting slopes outside when used with the laser receiver.
The two 360 degree vertical lasers allow a plumb position from floor to ceiling: useful for marking out downlight ceiling lights.

I have one and as long as you mount it within 10° of level it will sort itself out.

Late to the fray here sorry.
For anyone reading this the height support is as important as the laser level.
I tried using a basic Bosch one (son bought it) when I had to put up a curtain rail. I needed a line about 15cm lower than the ceiling above the (long) window reveal.
Eventually abandoned the idea as I simply couldn't find an easy way to get it high enough even with a fairly tall tripod. Mind you it was a basic single line one, but now that I've seen this I'm tempted to get a multi line one.
There was no way I could risk attaching it to a painted plaster wall, just something to be aware of if you need high up horizontals.
