safe isolation?

Surely you have switched a breaker on and its popped? You know, when someone rings you and says the breaker wont go on, so you go and have a look and switch it and it flicks off... Doesn't require safe isolation. I suppose the bit about not expecting it was not the right word.

Oh God this is getting a little Embarrassing now, surely UK sparks knew that and was just pulling your leg, dear God surely.

Yes I did know that, I have a way of using incorrect terminology some times!

then this would have answered your post at #12

see...i was right...you were wrong...

glad thats cleared up:p

I don't have the 2391 but have got the 2394 and passed that first time and am doing my 2395 next month.

Ill be honest though I did think the 2394 was pretty easy and can't see what the fuss is. I hear the 95 is a little more tricky but will see what happens.

I'm guessing that was said with an element of sarcasm maybe as you would know the answer.

2394 is inspection and testing
2395 is period inspection and testing

i still did the online exam and got 98% in that and did the written exam.

so..is this 2395 the replacement for the 2391?

no really...

when i did it ...it was the 2391...split into a practical..and a written assessment closed book....

so..is this 2395 the replacement for the 2391?

Not quite. Because the 'modern' electrician isnt as highly trained as the 'older' generation electrician (and being a politically correct society in which no-one fails) they split the 2391 into two to make it easier to pass.

2394 is the hold your hand thro' having a quick looksie at the electrics and 2395 is letting you do a little bit on your own.

Though of course I could be totally wrong ........

so..one is the 2392...and the other is the 2391?

Nope, the old 2392 (fundemental insp & testing) has disappeared and become part of 2394 -- hence a holding your hand qualification!

And the old 2391-20 (design and verification) which was a L3 qual is now replaced with a new L4 qual for the same theory. So in line with improving educational standards the 'newer' electrician can claim hes at L4 standard for designing whilst the old sweats are only L3 for the same.

Do you think Im becoming a cynical old git?

Apparently it's been made easier to pass...

hmm...

i always had the old 2391 as a `benchmark`...that is to say it was always aimed at those that were already conducting inspection & testing...on a daily basis...and applying BS7671..and thus the EAWR to their activities....

so if its another one that`s been `dumbed down`....well......

Your wrong, 2392 is so easy it's pointless even doing it.

2394 and 2395 are the two bits of the 2391.

2394 is initial verification inspection and testing only. Closed book written exam and online multi choice, plus practical involving full initial verification on two boards, three phase and a single phase, motor starters etc and carious other things. Plus there's more practical bits you do too.

2395 is périodicité inspecition and testing only. And there's a written exam and multi choice too.

you cannot do a 2391 now so the only option is 2394 and 2395, both if which you can have standalone but to make it the equivalent if the old 2391 you need to have done both.

Mr Skelton's done both (2391 and the new pair) and said on another thread that he thought the new pair were harder.

thats what i was looking for...i just wanted to know which numbers had replaced what...

so you get both the 2394 & 2395...and thats the equivelent of 2391...OK..thats good..

if its essentially the same qual..then i dont see the point...its upto Damian mind you what he does....

I don't know about how hard the 2391 was but to me I found the 2394 rather easy and straight forward. I just applied what I did in a daily basis and it went fine.

What! They're giving you the answers to choose from ..... dont tell me one is highlighted in bold incase you arent sure!!

This is a wind up I bet your sitting there giggling.

yes 94 and 95 both have a closed book written exam

No that's not right.

each qualification be it 2394 or 2495 had a practical, multiple choice and a closed book written exam

Oh Im done with this thread! I bet your in stitches rolling round in the floor!
so you covered non-conducting locations then.

was that on the 2394...or the 2395?

did you get that in the written exam?..

or is it on line for that part of the course?
