Hey all, I'm currently in the process of building my first workshop. I'm looking for a full guide on how i would go about using tools with a 110v input on then. How would i get 110v outlets ect.
Thanks
-Josh

use a site transformer. rating to be determined by what loads you may have running simultaneously.

up to 3.3kVA can run off a standard BS1363 plug/socket.

any chance you can put that into layman's terms? i'm 100% unqualified and clueless.

here is a 3kVA unit. comes with a plug so just plug it in. your output will be about 25A. the 110V is actually 55-0-55 so eack "live" pin has 55V - earth for safety. about £50.

How many 110V tools are you thinking of using?

is there any way i can get 110v wall sockets?
can be done, but i'd feed them from a site tranny anyway.reason being that 55V-E through your body doesn't hurt like 110V.

Large workshops often have an isolating transformer with 55-0-55v output through a dist board with double pole circuit protection but it it really worth the expense.

Out of interest why do you need to use 110V tools in this workshop? Is it a commercial workshop or a garden shed?

By your own admission you haven’t a clue about electrical installation so you’d be better off getting an electrician to do this for you.
