hello guys,my name is richard and im new to the forum, hoping somebody may be able to answer my question,il give a quick write up of my the problem.
im working on my vauxhall corsa and i have a warning light on the dash, plugged into vauxhall tech 2 machine and code i get is p1572 abs active pwm voltage low, after all codes are cleared that is the one code that always comes back, so ive been having a dig around and found the block connector on the abs unit, taken it off and tested all of the permanent and ignition live wires, all seems normal as im getting full signal from my tester on most of the wires except one! it is quite a thin red and blue wire but when i test it my tester reads out at 5v...am i right in thinking that ANY 12v wire in the car should show 12v on the tester or..is it possible that maybe smaller wires actually have a smaller voltage running through them? so should all live wires ( permanent and acc live ) always show a strong signal on the tester providing the battery is fine?
any help on this would be much appreciated

thanks in advance

richard.

Hi dude,no this could be OK as quite a few components will operate on a measured voltage of that order. Be careful shoving test probes in when powered up or running, you can do a lot of damage, for example,on some common rail fuel systems, interfering with connections can cause the injectors to stay open at its half cycle which promptly floods a cylinder and can bend conrods...best to leave "live" measuring unless you have data, check plug connections (legendary fault cause) you can disconnect loom sections and check for continuity,or even IR test with a MFT between disconnected cores and to "earth" (which is chassis negative) which is a trick i have done on many pieces of plant/vehicles possessing tiny cored looms of minimal longevity (some canbus systems especially) Honestly,a starting point for your fault code would be best gleaned off a suitable model specific forum, then go from there. Lastly,do not forget that modern vehicles are utter bobbins and chasing is what you are doing,NOT solving :sorcerer: That said, good luck

I had a vauxhall nova about 14 years ago, if you pulled the hazard switch out on the dash turned it upside down then pushed it back in, it used to switch the ignition on without any keys and you could bump sart it and drive off.
