This might be a really stupid question but do you ever offer punters discount for ..... Cough...... Cash ?
with this I mean offering it to them rather than them asking you ...

No, the price is the same regardless of how they pay. It costs me the same amount to do the job, and the tax is the same, so why should they pay less?

I think it's one of those situations where you have to get the feel of how it's going. If the customer tried to haggle you and you are willing to drop a little then you could slip the cash word in :leaving:

I don't do a discount for cash, but offer a 'prompt payment discount'
I do a lot of landlord works and offer a % off my standard prices for regular customers who pay promptly.
They usually pay via BACS within 2-3 days- getting a discount is a good incentive for me and keeps loyalty.

I never offer discount for cash but if they ask I knock off a little to please them.

Not suggesting you are considering not paying tax. Quote ' Yet even though tax avoidance is normally legal, it can quite easily turn into tax evasion. And tax evasion - a deliberate plan to cheat the taxman - is most definitely an offence'. An accountant once told me, HMRC will often go to a particular area, inspect wholesalers invoices and randomly pick out contractors, then see how that relates to the contractors tax returns. There are other 'public' source documents; LBC notification, on-line certs etc. If there's a paper trail, it can lead back to you.
