No it is in a factory here. This is an example of a switch-fuse at their busbar distribution.

They make furniture it is absolutely in and on everything. The one in the pic isn't actually that bad compared to some. The old Memshield 2 boards have faired the best they are pretty clean inside for some reason.

It's an early 80's install so probably complied with the regs at the time...but what the hell?

Nope! fairly sure that even back in the 80's we were working to the concepts of 'permitted wiring zones', or at least us pucker electricians were, but as often found the builder --- electricians were blissfully unaware of such things as making a circuit work 'safely'

I live abroad...this is considered normal! When we have heavy rain sometimes these types of connections start to arc, the fireworks are spectacular as the cable often melts.

My own house is connected properly, but still the mains is 4x16mm aluminium single-insulated and I have 4x35mm copper SWA from meter to CU. Thankfully my 17 split ACs are never all on at the same time.

Some things I've come across this week while testing and commissioning some emergency lights on a new build. Just simple stuff that people should not be doing....

We’re those cables dressed by a rodent! There’s gnaw marks all over them.
Don’t show @westward10 those CPC sleeves that look like Nora Battys stockings - he’ll throw a wobbler!
