Hi looking for some expert advice on the following .

Am in the process of fitting light in my loft. I have spured off the last light on the end of the radial light circuit using 1mm twin & earth. I would usually utalise a single pole 1 gang switch to switch the live. I believe this is standard practice. On this occasion I would like a switch with a neon indicator so I can tell if the loft light has been left on. To do this I intend to use a 20A ,1 gang, double pole switch with neon indicator to break both the live and the neutral. In my untrained mind this will work and will break the circuit thereby turning the light on/off. But I have never utlised this method of switching.

My question is :

-Is my logic sound?
Is this good practice ?
- Is this safe ?
- does it meet current building regs.

Your assistance with this simple query would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Spud

Should be fine. The earths will need connecting to the earth terminal on the front plate, not the back box. Additional lighting in a dwelling will also require additional 30ma rcd protection.
