Hi all,

I completed my apprenticeship a few years ago with EAL being the awarding body.

I’ve also recently passed the 18th edition however this was awarded by City & Guilds.

I’m about to start the 2391 (c&g) course next week and was wondering if it matters which awarding body gives the qualification and if it’s compatible with the JIB grades.

I would imagine it doesn’t matter either way but i’d rather know for certain before dishing out on more courses. I would prefer to do City & Guilds as I believe it is more widely recognised in the industry

Tried contacting JIB but no answer so any info would be great,
Cheers

C&G and EAL are recognised. But as you say, C&G are more recognised and desirable by the industry.

Never seen any van stickers saying EAL qualified, seen quite a few with C&G qualified about lately though........ :)

My NVQ is with EAL and everything else is city and guilds. Never stopped me from getting a shiny card or job.

Honestly I agree with DT, I would go with the cheapest. Spend enough money on books, exams, assessments and other bits. Only problem is if you are looking for employment, employers look more favorable towards C&G.

You will not have any problems with you ECS cards or accreditation with either, so go with what fits your price and time scale best
