Hi,

Im a bit new to EICR'S and wondering if anyone could help me out and tell me what code to put for storage heater D/B that has 1361 fuses? Im guessing C3 as the only problem I can think of is that the cables [FONT=arial, sans-serif]are buried in the wall at a depth less than 50mm and not protected by an 30ma RCD.

cheers for any help in advance.

I would code the absence of RCD maybe 3 but for the above situation i wouldnt code at all as it complied at the time of install.

What other things did you find and what codes have you given them?

Sorry just realised its a separate DB.. In my eyes maybe code there or no code at all

1361 fuses are still permitted as OCPD's...as long as disconnection times are met no issue at all. Lack of RCD protection to buried cables is another matter and as you state would be a C3 if no other protection is provided.

Nothing else found on the storage heater D/B - all disconnection times met and stuff, so i'll think ill just leave at a code 3. Cheers for your help.

deffinitely a C3 with the back up reg. 522.6.6

Not sure why some people here are giving the impression that BS1361 fuses are not really up to standard. If anything HRC fuses are far more accurate on it's tripping curve than MCB's and will clear far bigger fault currents than most MCB's. The only drawback, is that they are a one time only protective device and can be expensive to replace....

The regs are'nt retrospective so you can't attribute a code to this. As previous posts have pointed out if the correct levels of protection are met there is no condition to code. As a word of advice you should source a copy of the 1361 disconnection table from the red 17th edition and place it in your green regs for reference as you will come across these fuses 90% of the time.

C3 as you carry out an EICR to current regs so if the cabling was less than 50mm in a plastered wall then it would require RCD protection , agree with E54 about 1361 fuses
