UK Eicr codes for rented properties?

On a domestic property,owned by the householder, the general opinion on no rcd protection is a C3 as long as other conditions are met.So therefore the EICR could get a satisfactory on it.

Move onto rented properties and it's my take that the rules change.
Suddenly no RCD protection becomes a C2 due to the rented sector requirements and the EICR would get an unsatisfactory.
Is this correct?
Does this also mean that storage heater circuits on their own consumer unit would have to be upgraded to have RCD protection if in a rented property?

Whether it’s rental is not relevant, it’s either potentially dangerous or it’s not.

I agree with above, no change to codings, whatever you would normally give still stands - you're still inspecting the installation based on the requirements of and compliance with BS7671 and essentially whether or not it is dangerous.

Just out of interest, why would you think the coding would change? I'm asking as I've seen and heard a lot people saying similar things since the eicr's became a rental requirement. Someone tried to tell me only the other day that all plastic consumer units in rental properties must be replaced with metal by the end of next year!

Where are you getting the information that new rented property differs from an own property . You should treat them all the same they are domestic propertys . Also you cant just blanketly code no RCD protection . You must break it down to..

Rcd protection for socket outlets
Rcd protection for socket outlets that can be used outdoors
Rcd protection for lighting circuits
Rcd protection for cables buried in walls less than 50mm deep
Rcd protection for cables in metal partition walls
Rcd protection for circuit's within a special locations

All the above are coded differently.
I'm sure there is some more but you can use them for starters

For some bizarre reason the NAPIT code breakers has C2 for no RCD practically everywhere, but the Best Practice guide has C3 or C2 depending on the situation:
