I was working on a lighting circuit last night and when I re energised the circuit the extractor fans were much louder than before I worked on circuit what could cause this??
If your work did not involve the extractor fan then not your problem, if the fan has been moved or such then dirt could have got into the bearings, etc. quick spray with WD40 might sort it (or make it worse).
Your getting shafted then pal, fan would only increase in audible volume if the fan blade itself has come loose from the shaft or debris or the like has got into the housing and is being spun around or making contact with blades.
Take the clients finger, poke it into the fan, then tell him to listen closely as the sound changes again.
turned out that the extractor fans were never on before! so when I reset the breaker I thought had tripped, it turned out to be the extractor fan circuit. So that's why they were so quiet before
