I think the damage has already been done to the solar industry!! Probably thousands of potential clients backed out of having installations done in those months since the announcement of the reduced FIT rates....

Doesn't make it that much of an investment now anyway, pay back times will almost double!! Not unless the equipment manufacturers reduce material prices significantly.... Wouldn't surprise me, if many of these solar companies cease trading and go back to electrical contracting/trading....

True enough its become a self fulfilling prophecy. Its a government tactic thats well known in other sectors like education, Most Solar PV companies around here at least never were electrical contractors anyway. It was always going to be a free for all with the unsustainable FITs. Those of you who remember the boom in thermal solar a few years ago will also know that a huge number of "installers" were just blokes with a transit and a hammer. PV is no different. Feel sorry for the legitimate companies but the industry has been fatally wounded.
