Lady needs help.

Hello all, my name is Jan and I'm here to ask for some advice.
i've recently been buying vintage electrical appliances, kettle, toaster and a coffee percolator ect. I use these myself, they bring back lovely childhood memories and were made to last or repair in those day's.
i won't be asking advice for a complete overhaul of my vintage items (well not just yet) but simple wiring problems that I'm having and my not being able to identify some of the socket connectors.
The only knowledge I have of electrics are changing a plug, putting up a ceiling light and installing a new cooker but some of the old fittings I have are a challenge.

Welcome to the forum Jan. I've put this in the DIY forum for you where it's better suited.

Many of the older appliances are not double insulated or what we call 'ClassII' which can cause challanges when refurbishing and rewiring etc.

those things were built to last, not like ones nowadays, built to fail after a while so you have to go and buy new one.

will be worth to have them inspected by a competent person, tested for safety using a proper test equipment.
