Just wondering, our light fitting outside keeps blowing up. What could be the problem and what steps should I take to rectify the problem? Cheers in advance:)

my mother in laws upstairs lights did this for ages. the fittings were 20 years old. what i did was to turn power off at CU, and then i went round with a rag and WD40 and i cleaned every light fitting (edison screw). no problem since. dont forget to wipe off the WD40 once fitting cleaned.

Can you elaborate on 'blowing up'......is it blowing a fuse/mcb.....or is the lamp blowing regularly??

Check the lampholder for corrosion or wear resulting in a poor contact. If it's a linear tungsten halogen lamp check the pin contacts on the fitting, they often burn out.....otherwise (and most likely)....rubbish quality lamps, make sure you buy well known brand lamps, there are a lot of cheap imports.

are you fitting within the Watts rating?
