Hi Guy's
I'm finaly getting dragged into the 21st century and getting accredited with NAPIT,
(I went to the Green build show in Manchester and chatted to both NAPIT and the NICEIC. Personally I found NAPIT more approachable and friendlier)

I have the appointment set for a few weeks time and I have the conformation email.

on the bottom of the email there is checklist of what I need to have with me.

Quality Manual available (containing the following items)

8)Record of Complaints

I do not have complaint policy in place, where can I find one?

10)Waste disposal policy statement

On the assessment site there is waste management in place, but where can I find and example of a waste disposal policy?

11)Details and Evidence of monitoring of sub-contract staff

I don't have a clue, I mainly use electricians I have previously worked with, so to be honest it has never been a problem

12)Records of Instrument Hire (if applicable)

I own my own equipment, so this is N/A

13)Calibration and/or Written Instrument verification process

My calibration certificates are current and up-to date

Thanks in advance for any help given

Richard

If I recall correctly this is a chicken and egg situation. Some of the documents you need are on the NAPIT website but, you have to be a member to access them! Not much good if you're not yet a member.

The complaints procedure only needs to be something simple -e.g. a record of complaints, dates and outcomes. I include the rest in my T&C's i.e complaints policy/procedure etc

Waste disposal - they want you to say you do not handle waste (unless you have a waste disposal licence).

Sub-contractors - when I was a NAPIT member I just told my assessor I was a sole trader and didn't become involved with Subs - that was fine by them.

Good louck with the assessment, though if you've paid for your Part P, it's unlikely they will fail you unless your a complete numpty (and I doubt you are as you're asking questions on here) :)

Cheers Richy,
After looking on here and on-line I've found all the documents,

regarding the waste management, I'll take all the scrap cable anyone has, and I will recycle it :-)

thanks again

Richard

Outrageous ;)

I am registered with napit as full scope electrical and to be honest if you know what you are talking about with regards to inspection & testing of electrical installations you will be fine.
All the other stuff you can download from ther website when your all set up with them as I did.

Hi supasparxs, I am with NAPIT too. Found on my initial assessment that anything I needed the assessor was more than happy to assist me with and that the whole experience was not as daunting as I thought it would be.

Laid out everything on the checklist the night before so that it was available for inspection. Remember the process is a 2way thing so make sure you get any questions you have off your chest.

Found that chocolate hobnobs are a clincher if all else fails! Sounds like you will be fine anyway, keep us posted.

Regards wa

Thanks Guys,
I'll remember the chocolate hobnobs :-)
To be honest I am not anticipating any problems, except the project maynot be complete.....

but this issue will be because of others delaying things.
either way I will have some circuits for them to test,
(even if it's only the site temps, which is a 100 amp TPN supply, a 10KVA transformer, and a sub-main to the permanent board)

Are you registering with NAPIT for Part P, and if yes is this a domestic set up your doing?

Hi Malcolm,
no it is not a domestic job.
the assessment is a new shop unit in the Westfield Stratford City Development.
The work includes, electrical,CCTV, Fire Alarm , Data and Comms

The spec of the work is using generic Fire Tuff cable rather than T+E, all cable is LSF.
As they will be assessing me on a minimum of two circuits preferably one of which a ring main I will be able to carry out Part P work after.

Alot of people think you have to have a domestic assessment to be part P but in reality you do not.

NAPIT must be scraping the bottom of the barrel....
the want me.. :-)

Joking appart the accessment was not as daungting as In thorght it would be.
due to the nature of the site (Stratford Westfield Shopping Centre),
I met the accessor at the site gate and brought him over the road to the highly impressive "Burger King"

I offered coffee and Cake, (he took the coffee but not the cake..... chocolate hobnobs not required (read back in thread))

during the Q and A part of the accessment, I felt it was more like a couple of sparks chatting and chewing the fat.

after we had gone throught all the paperwork, I felt it was a case of a couple of guys chatting and when asked about RCD testing (I really had to put my thinking hat on) what are the 7 kids of tests

(for those cheating {Functional, 0.5 x test, 1 x test, 5 x test, 180 0.5 x test, 180 x 1 x test, 180 x 5 x test})

so staying up until 3 am the night before double checking I had all my paperwork in order require.... even it wasn't asked for

(BTW I have had a feqw drinks)

:-) nite all
