Might want to make this a sticky???

I thought I’d just share my experiences with the Napit Full Scope site assessment as many ask for the heads up and this may make it easier for us.
The following was for the Full Scope assessment, where you need 2391-10 within 1 year of joining, I know no two assessments will be exactly the same but maybe this will help some of you.
I met my assessor at my (home) office, I had all my paper work that I carry with me at all times and some paperwork I may not carry at all times all laid out on the desks, they included:-

BS7671:2008, On site guide, Guidance note 3, Electricians Guide to the Building Regs.

Copys of EAWR, HASAWA, GS38, Approved Document P

My waste disposal policy, My health and safety policy, My customer complaints log, My site diary, Public Liability Insurance Cert, Indemnity Cert if your doing PIR’S or the new EICR’s

I also have all the ESC best practice guides, wiring diagrams for all the central heating systems
Calibration certificates for all your testers

Original copy’s of all your qualifications and references(2)

We spent about 90 minutes in the office over a nice cup of tea, Napit are very keen on the quotation, contract, invoice & recipt policy, they like to see some evidence of you doing it, Its not assessment threatening but preferable, like the site diary.

Also they like to see any certificates you have previously issued to customers, now i was caught out here, I like to make my own certs on word, they look neat and proffesional but didnt contain the notes that should go with them, again a small error that needs putting right.

Then we used the office computer for a demo on Napits online notifcation procedure and a demo of the website, also we looked at the various certificates Napit offer chatted about them.

Then on to the site visit, It lasted about 45 mins, a few questions based on BS7671, mine were on disconnection times for circuits and RCD’s, and test currents, things you should know, a few questions on where you would take certain tests like Ze and PFC and then on to a few tests, EFLI measurements, and a pre com test......Job Done

All in all a good experience, like the guys say, they are not there to fail or trip you up but do expect competency, just like your customers would of you.

If you live in Mersyside or North Wales as I do then you may well have Geoff Oliver, a very decent bloke, very helpful and of course knows his stuff from his time on the tools, I couldnt fault him at all, top bloke.

Good Luck

Mike
