Evening All....

Well its been a while hope everyone is ok

Quick question please, I should know this but its been so long :

What are those little numbered rings called that you identify cables with (should still have one of those guide things in the bottom of my box somewhere to slide them on with if I'm lucky) ? I for some reason thought they were called ferrels, goolged it and no good.

Also need some first thing in morning , any idea if most wholesalers keep them on the shelf ?

Many Thanks,

Sy

It's all about the local lingo, and I've been on jobs where everybody has a different name for everything.

I call the slide on ones numbers, ferrules are the pre printed plastic that slide into silver foxes.

We'd always known them as numbered ferrules too.No idea how widely available they are...I havn't used them in years. You could try widening your search to cable identification markers or similar.

Older gents I've worked with called them pigeon rings. "Put a ring on it lad".

A great way to identify cables and more of us should do it, or am I the one and only?

Be a little careful with these things Sythai. I was putting some on cables and I trapped a bit of flesh on my index finger.
Even three days later the blister exists

you should watch wher you put it then, your finger, that is.

google critchley cable markers.

Yeah that rings a bell - critchley markers, it's all coming back to me now.

Trip to Neweys first thing then.

And I'll be careful - cheers everyone - knew it would be simples

.... Got a fair few singles to mark up that's all :yesnod:
