hi everyone, hope you all are busy!

I have a night storage heater to look at,customer has said it is cold,am thinking could it be the thermal cut out switch just needs to be reset?.will test heater on a temp supply.

i would isolate heater and take reading with ohmeter to prove it

assuming supply is ok

prob cut-out

Cutouts cutout for a reason....usually heater covered by someone drying clothes....or input stat sticking.
As above...ohmeter test at heater terminals with local isolator off....open circuit-heater problem.....approx15-20 ohms-heater should work so suspect supply fault.

thanx dave,i will give that a try, going there on saturday.
i think the heaters are only a year old,and think she had elements change on one of them already.

thanx wirepuller, will try it,and hopefully it is the cut out.

Check how old it is because if it is 8-10 years old sometimes the combined control/high limit module keeps tripping I have been doing work for a letting agent and their "other" electrical company seems to like reseting the high limit and the majority of the time it is tripping due to wear and tear and their not pleased as they are paying them for return visits when they should be repairing the unit. I have attached a photo of a Dimplex control/high temp cut outP9290011.jpg

also worth checking the asbestos list as a lot of the older ones have it inside.

the heater i looked at was a dimplex its only a year old and already has elements replaced!.

some have a Solder type cut out ie it melts when over heated check manufacturer for correct temp setting

I got some bits off them last week for a couple of creda storage heaters, nice easy site I got the customer to order the bits as it was for a mate, have to phone to order as no online ordering that i could find.
