I recently got my flat rewired. It had old storage heaters and we plan on putting modern storage heaters in. The way the electrician did the rewiring means that there is only night time supply for the future heaters, although now I’m looking at buying heaters, I realise that all modern heaters need both night and day supply.

My electrician has said to get both supplies to each single socket would mean putting a new cable through all the trunking/in the walls. Or alternatively adding extra sockets next to the night time sockets, that come off the plug circuit.

Is there an easy way at the fuse box end to supply the night time fuse box with both day and night power?

Any suggestions welcome for the best way to solve this problem! Thank you :)

TL;DR
Can you change night fuse box to have both day and night power supply?

I'm not fully up on all the possible options.
If you plan on replacing the storage heaters, then you could use single supply heaters, connected to your new outlets, and the wiring of those outlets would need to be transferred at the consumer unit end to be all 24 hour supplies (which ought to be a fairly straightforward job)
Then you would need a smart meter that switches whole house to off-peak at night (which you may already have).

There may be other approaches.

My electrician seemed to think that the transferring of power at the consumer unit end would be more work than the option he gave me.

We don't have a smart meter, but our meter is the kind that switches the rest of the electric from day to off peak mode.

We have two fuse boxes, one for 24hr supple and the other with the heaters, off peak supple. So are you suggesting that wiring the heaters fuse box to have 24hr supply is possible?

If you supply the heaters via the 24hr supply then you're relying on setting the off peak charging times within the heater itself. You will need to make sure you match the off peak hours on your tariff. Any mismatch means you're using peak electricity. Be aware that in most cases these remain on GMT, so for example if it's 23:00 to 06:00 (GMT) in Winter, you'll need to change to it to 00:00 to 07:00 (BST) in Summer, or leave it at 00:00 to 06:00 all year round.
