Hi guys in my house my gas meter is under the stairs and when i moved in i checked for the gas bond and nothing by the meter but ive ripped up a few boards upstairs and theres a bond above in the landing just above where the pipe goes down through the kitchen wall (chased in on hallway side) so i cant get access for a bond within 600 of the meter any suggestions on what to do guys?

Obviously you will bond as close as you can get to the incoming service. However you may need to cross bond to pick up the branch to the downstairs area... As you should be making the bond, ''Before'' any branching off...

its the closest point but it isnt accessible or wont be when i nail the boards back down. theres a short run from the current bond to the airing cupboard where i could put an accessible bond about 2m away from the current bond thatll be alright wont it?

Not sure I'd be putting a bonding clamp where it isn't visible or accessible.

id say itll be fine in the cupboard. Wherever possible it should be within 600mm of the meter but whos going to rip their house to bits to get it there.

cheers guys seems a bit silly to have the bond under the boards because it isnt accessible seems im got two options now either to have a rethink and get it down behind the stairs ar like mentioned to put it in the nearest acccessible point that i can

e54 the gas tees off all over the place atm although im getting all these points capped off it will be beyond many branches off so think i will have to get it by the meter

was just curious to see if anyone had encountered this before but thanks for the advice much appreciated

cheers
