old 25mm meter tails.

Come across 2 drums of 25mm meter tails Red and Black ... both almost full i'd say 45meters on both.

Found them in my parents house (as most of you know my dad was an electrician)

Question is, would any of you still be inclined to use them and stick some brown and blue insulating tape around them? Seems a waste if not. I'm not aware sleeving goes up to 25mm.

The issues i have are as follows ...

1) Someone could easily pull tape off
2) The DNO who are clueless could see it and moan that red and black have been fitted
3) It does say in the OSG that polarity should be confirmed by the colour of the insulation

Yes - use them and use tape to re-assign to new colour code or the more pro' touch -heatshrink

I'd also re-use them and just mark them with heat shrink.

Are they grey sheathed ?, if so when terminating butt sheath up so no inner showing, and just Tape on outer with new colours.

If somebody is meddling with the tails, and they can't work out that red or brown is live, and black or blue is neutral, they deserve anything they get.

OF COURSE, why not? get stuck in and use the cable, why wouldn't you, and more to the point why are you asking?

Or just write "N" and "L" on the grey sheath. Like has been said no one can see the inner if you've done a neat job, and even if they can, red is live black is ... The udder one

A few brown and blue cable ties are more robust than ins tape, but heatshrink is good option. Tap up the next DNO fella you see for a bag full of their pre-marked ties. I got some seals and an insulated allen key (for the new isolators) off of one recently. Nice little find that Marc!
