Afternoon All,

What kind of pice would you be charging for like for like replacement of switches, sockets, etc.

Trying to price it up and a little bit unsure of whether to charge per hour or per point?

28 double s/o
14 switches
3 phone
3 co-ax
6 wall lights
5 ceiling lights

He wants me to price the fittings as well, are the Volex range in polished chrome any good or not, the price seems to good to be true?

How long will it take you?

How easy are all the accessories to get to?

2 days at average pace?

I would generally avoid volex.

Spend a little extra and get something decent.

I put the chrome volex in my own home, generally reasonable however if when you remove the old accessories and the plaster has spilled into the back boxes this will have to be removed as these accessories take up a lot of room and will not fit unless clear.

Quoted the bloke for the job, daily rate plus parts. Allowed 20 hours labour as he wants 7 light fittings changing as well. Parts came in @ £430, labour 20 hrs £500. He has had another quote parts and labour £600!!!!

Can I do anything with the price he says. Pay cash then yh, i'll knock a ton off. Ah, ok, i'll come back to you by the end of the week.

Seems to me like he is playing one off the other, me thinks i will get a fone call @ the end of the week, summit along the lines of, well they will do it for £500.

Should have just told him that was the price and thats that.

Question is, have I over estimated labour or is he just trying to screw me down

You could trim the labour a tad.

I mean, it could be done in a long day with an early start, but you will sweat

even working @ £7.50 a point labour comes to £442
