Practising Electrician (Qualified - Domestic or Commercial etc)
Hi all, long time lurker first time poster here!

Was thinking recently that with the new ev charger installs taking off, and with Solar batteries improving all the time, there must come a point soon where by a solar pv install with battery system is becoming more efficient and viable, so therefore I've been researching doing such courses.

so my question is : has anybody had any experience doing the solar course recently?

it appears city and guilds have discontinued it, and I don't understand why, I understand that the whole thing died a death when the government grants stopped, but It's obviously the future still especially with all of these car chargers having an increasing impact on the grid and government targets of becoming more green.

The main one now appears to be Bpec, which is supposedly only for domestic, so how would one now qualify to install solar on commercial?

TIA

I’ve been looking to do the pv course also, but I can’t find any one doing it within my area South Devon.

the demand for solar has diminished due to removal of the feed in tariff So not as many being fitted.

i want to instal them on my house and wanted to do it myself. Also I would find the course interesting as I like to learn.

I'm in the same scenario - thought rather than pay for a solar company install, would probably work out cheaper to do the whole course and install myself.

Seems there are three options now:

Tradeskills4u offer the 4 day Bpec course
Niceic / Napit offer their own training but is not Bpec
BPEC Solar PV Installer + Battery Storage Systems Course Offer - GRE Energy Training (gretraining.co.uk)
which has the battery storage "Eco cert"

Also thought now is a good a time as any to be getting courses done. Not much else to do!
