Hi could anyone help my husband is starting a new job he needs to sit a SPEN WI-1 course. He’s not sure what this entails does anyone have any info on these courses & is there any information he could download or buy to have him prepared for the course. Thank you!

It's just an introduction to the safety rules required for working on or near electrical equipment, it's pretty much the same as other companies' rules, but for Scottish power.

Most of it to new people to the industry is the terminology used, how to identify when it is safe to work on/near something from an observation and documentation point of view, for the more experienced it's about the specific rules/terminology/practices associated with that company.

It's nothing to worry about or train for beforehand, once achieved it allows you to work on isolated kit with an accompanying person
