I love my weekends off, I seem to look like I do at work, only I find myself doing things I'm less good at and don't get paid!

i need to panel out my engine room in tongue and groove....it will be painted when I get around to it (I hate painting, this might be in a while) so I want something that isn't going to leach resin or need acres of filler. Where and what is my best bet? Thinking maybe Douglas fir but finding any on a Sunday is going to be tricky.

If I have to, I can wait but I just want the job done!

be plenty of fir trees going begging in january. try trafalgar square with a chainsaw.

B&Q, Wickes, Travis Perkins etc etc

Are you serious lining your engine room with flammable material which will soak up any oil that leaks, think your boat insurance company would have something to say about that.

what if it's a wooden boat? line it with asbestos?

Parana pine is pretty knot-free, has a tendency to warp though so best used in thinner strips. Or just apply knotting solution...?

Perfectly normal. Often engine bearers are made from wood and I've seen a fair few stove collars made of wood too! Nonetheless, I take your point entirely.

Trying to avoid b&q quality if I can....
