Hi Guys,

Been looking into pipe carriers for the new van and wanted to see what some of you have gone for...

As I understand it I would need a plastic liner to minimise marking on plastic trunking etc

Rhino seems to be a popular choice and have just been told it has a coating inside?? Not sure how true it is though! Anyone have a rhino tube?

Cheers

Save yourself some money and buy a 3m length of 6" drain pipe, have a screwed on both ends and simply attach hasp and claps for a small padlock...Rhino are very good but the cost is ridiculous.

I looked into that but the price of all the accessories didn't make it that much cheaper!?

It's a false economy. You'll end up spending almost as much on a cheap drainpipe and expensive accessories as you would on a Rhino which to be fair, at around £130 isn't that bad.

I've managed to get them down to about £119 for the Rhino....

It's the access caps for the pipe that seem to be expensive...

Think I'm decided on the Rhino, just need to confirm this lining bit....a few others clearly show a plastic sort of insert? Rhino doesn't but am being told of this 'special coating!'

I have three vans and three rhinos, not once have I ever had a bit of conduit scratched (PVC or galv). If you're that worried then get a 3m length of 100mm x 100mm maxi trunking and slot it inside, it fits rather snug.

One other thing the Rhinos have is crash test approval, you aint gonna get that with a bit of stink pipe. No need to worry about rear ending Mrs 'Baby on board' and spearing the nipper in the back with a 3m length of galv conduit.

I've got nothing but good things to say about the rhinos.

Thanks for your replies mate.

It isn't so much the scratching, it's the reaction between the metal and PVC, apparently a magical occurrence takes place and marks the white PVC trunking/conduit.

But the crash testing is deffo worth it, especially with my driving!

We have had to remove them from all vans as they are a magnet for scum bags lost count how many time the thick gits smashed the ends off when it was open

Never would have thought a bit of conduit would be so sought after?!

Bit of 6" pipe like others have said, seen it hundreds of times and never hesrd of scratched conduit..

I've got the 4m van vault one, you don't then have to cut down lengths of galv conduit to fit in a 3m version :)

Quick update...

Finally bought the rhino, £130

Went to put a bit of pipe in yesterday and noticed someone has just jimmied the lock...must've taken seconds!

So frustrated, would be better off leaving it open so they scum bags can see it doesn't contain copper.

Not a happy boy tonight!

My plumber mate got fed up with that happening so he put a false floor in his van and slid the pipe underneath .
