Hi all,

I need help on how to wire a combi boiler with 2 motorised valves, a room stat (volt free) and a heat exchanger on a pond. I havent yet bought the stat for the pond because I am not sure what type to use. the ones I have looked at I assume are 230v ie Carel S90 digi stat (Carel S90 DigiStat Thermostat Controller).

My question is can a 230V stat be used on a volt free boiler and how is this wired to the motorised valves?

Also is there alternative stat I could use instead of the Carel, these are very expensive and would a underfloor stat with a probe work?

I hope I have explained myself and any help would be appreciated.

Which boiler is it? Normally you can just take a switched live to the boiler to bring it on as most (not all though) will accept a 230V on signal. I would say you then just wire it up as you would an S-Plan. With regards to the pond i can't say i'm particularly au fait with this sort of setup, i'm assuming there will be a blender valve in the setup to reduce the flow temperature from the boiler as i'm sure fish won't appreciate a 70 degree bath. If it's someone who owns Koi Carp or similar expensive fish then i'm sure the price of that probe will be insignificant in comparison to what they probably paid for the fish.

Need a little bit more info really.....you say you have 2 x zone valves, is it one for domestic CH and one for the pond??? as you have a combi boiler one wouldn't be for domestic HW I wouldn't have thought as that would be on demand when a tap is opened.

Are there any timeclocks present or is it just the stats that control the heating???

Hi the boiler is a Vokera Linea 735 cobi boiler.
The valves split the heating for the house and pond via a room stat for the house and the pond is via a heat exchanger with a stat probe. The boiler has the digital clock built in but this is on constant with the heating only controled by the stats.

Hi its the 735 combi, the pond heating is via a heat exchanger controlled by a stat with a probe. You mentioned a switched live but I thought you cant use that on a volt free connection.
