Hi all

I have my website Unicorn Electrical | Electrician Huddersfield Electrician Woking

I have an offer on there saying If you find a cheaper quote we will try and beat by 10%, a business information guy told me that i shouldn't put that on as it makes me sound cheap, and that i offer cheap quality equipment.

He also says that i will get alot of people taking the **** and getting a quote from someone they use, then get me to beat it then send the quote to the first company and use them at the price i quoted.

My issue is once i remove this, i have no idea what else i can put in its place i dont want an empty space lol

Cheers Guys

Maybe say you offer free quotations and your prices are very competitive.
Do you guarantee your work? State all work is guaranteed against normal wear & tear (whatever) for x years.

^^^ agreed, it does make you sound "cheap" as opposed to good quality.

Also, cut and paste into ms word and run a spell/grammar check! "reccomend" s/b "recommend" and some of the grammar is a bit iffy ;)

Personally when I see things like cheapest around etc etc and especially the offer of a free ipad i run a mile.

For example an ipad is what £300? Well immediately I am thinking your £300 more expensive or using £300 worth of cheaper materials.

Lets face it your not giving the ipad away for free, the cost is factored into the price and most people are going to know this. You have just alienated everyone that already has an ipad.

My first thought would be "Are you a shady character that has ACQUIRED a knocked off batch of Ipads" lmao Seriously though, I personally would not entertain such incentives as I would believe there is a catch somewhere.

:thumbsup

Cheers for the input, what else could i offer instead of an ipad in my head it was to try get people to spend more than 3500 etc

Im new at business so learning all this input is EXTREMELY helpfull =] Cheers!! :D

Spell check is a great idea, I didnt think of that (I got a C in english at GCSE... JUST)

Maybe a list of previous clients? if not now then in the future when you have some. Dont worry so much about trying to tempt people to spend money. They are going to spend what they need/want to spend regardless of you trying to tempt them with gadgets etc

Ive changed the 10% to 18 months guarantee as most offer 12 months maybe this might give me a little advantage! as for the Ipad ive no idea what offer to put in its place.

The business guy (My mate from pub) says my page on Services is a bit extreme! too many pictures, things to click and ways to get lost in the web!

Do you think i should just have that page being a list has anyone any service pages on there website i may look at and take ideas from cheers

In my opinion you need to forget any type of gimmick, keep it simple. I would much rather obtain work by reputation of providing excellent service than being recommended for giving away free goodies.

Think of the sort of client you would like to attract, who do you think you would attract with an ipad? The houses I work in already have these fancy items. Those who don't? well perhaps they don't have them for particular reasons.

Whereas a client will look for a good tradesperson I look for a good client. I am not interested in working for idiots or for those who want something for nothing. I would much rather work for someone who will pass my name on to friends and family because I do good work at competitive rates.

Work on your strengths, don't list everything you do just target the areas that you believe will create the most interest/offer the most return for your effort.

:thumbsup

You really need to sort out your spelling on your site FIRST, then focus on changing to the 18month warranty offer etc.

When I see a website with big bold typo's, I get put off from going any further.

Spelling and grammer should be sorted, what other offer can i give now instead of IPAD cheers

If you want to "give" something away, how about a free electrical installation condition report (check to them) to a friend/family member, at least it's spreading your network of contacts and potentially giving you some extra remedial work.

As already said, anything you give away is going to cost you. Don't expect to build a business from £3500 jobs on domestic. If that's the scale you're looking to achieve on all jobs then you'd best look at commercial/industrial to be the driver for that.

I offer previous clients a £25 m and s voucher for a recommendation that ends up getting you at least a days work. Saw it on here before and it is a good idea.

I think your services page needs attention mate, it looks to me like just a load of pretty pictures stuck in there because you couldn't think of anything to fill the page, why not something from genuinely happy customers?
Also the blog page, 1) "we are a cheap affordable..." as previously advised stay away from those words and 2) If I was looking for a sparky I don't think I'd be interested in reading his blog or following him on twitter but maybe that's just me. Can you think of anything interesting you're going twit (or should that i be a different vowel hehe)

You should be starting out hoping that people even let you through the door, not worrying about £3.5k+ contracts...

You should also get a landline number as well.a lot of people are put off by mobile only due to the cowboys using them. When people have used you they may ring the mobile but from experience most prefer a landline,if you are not in just divert the call to your mobile more professional than telling them to ring another number.

If you want to offer something to get more clients, give them what they really want and it won,t cost you any extra but it will bring more work.Give the client a quality job that they will like and you can be proud of,think this way if you wouldn,t do it at home don,t do it for a client, word gets around and you,ll soon have work.

Your an Electrician not Tesco.

I would delete the 'free smoke alarms' bit- the first thing that springs to mind is "Why is an electrical company offering free smoke alarms? Do they have performance issues?"

You've still got stuff about PIR's- it's EICR's now

Buy a local number see TTNC.CO.UK or use DM CAll
