Hi
I feel a bit dim! The instructions to my megger 1552 seem to make things seem very simple but my results don't.
My question is what setting should I be using to test Ze should I use 'No trip' or 'Hi' .....?
The manual states that when RCD's are present then 'No Trip' should be selected but my limited knowledge states there are no RCD's on the supply externally so why use this setting..?

And what setting for PFC if I use PFC in the 'No Trip' range it simply displays Trp on testing but it tests Ok in the 'Hi' range giving a result of 13kA,
Am I missing the point can anyone explain this to me in lay mans' terms so it is clear
Thanks in advance for any help in my quandry.

you are right the no trip scale is for when there are rcds when using this scale you must use the plug lead or all 3 single leads you canot 2wire test on no trip
it sounds like you have it worked out

13ka is high but what was the eli

Im not sure if I do have it worked out am I correct in saying there are no RCDs on the external supply because there are RCDs on the consumer unit .
With this in mind should I be using the No trip setting and if so why does it go to Trp when I do use it..?
Thanx fo your speedy reply by the way!!

no you need to use the hi scale and 2 leads l&e no neutral

if you do this on no trip it will realise the n is missing and show trp
sometimes if you dont hold the leads on tight it will also do this
