Just installed a new earth rod on a TT system. Am I right in thinking that its an EIC with almost nothing filled in??

Well, you have altered the characterisics of the earthing arrangements. plus its back to the board so i would say yes.

"altered the characteristics of the earthing" - absolutely - they've now got a reasonable reading - it was 320+ ohms its now 32 ohms!

Nice one murdoch. Always good feeling int it when you have sorted a job out right and you come away knowing it n all. Just out of interest mate....had /was there any evidence of recent work here....where they should have sorted the earthing arrangements out beforehand? The amount of times my boss and I have come across failes Ze...Zs etc and theres been recent work done n all.......plus crap bonding......

Nothing obvious had been done for years. I discovered the "issue" when I was testing the Zs after fitting a couple of new outside lights. Fortunately for me I had talked about such issues when I had spoken to the customer before I sent in an estimate.

What amused me was the fact that SEEBoard had changed the CU, about 15 years ago, and connected a nice bit of 16mm green and yellow - which went to the DNO fuse cupboard and wasn't connected to anything!

The original earth stake was squeezed between the house and the sidepath!

The cert is the main pain, its not a 2 minute job and most clients don't have a clue what they are for!!

I suppose its just one of those things though Murdoch....at least the Ra will be stable now though.....
