i don’t miss doing occupancy rewires , but we did have laugh back then
When I was an apprentice, we rewired about 300 3bed council houses, got a bloody good handle on house bashing, it was a great laugh fond memories.

bet you pulled the cables in the cavity walls ... :)
Nope it was all mini turk for switch drops, and all surface pattresses for sockets and switches on this particular job. Gang of 3 we were knocking them out in a day, no testing back then. (just being honest)lol

Yep some jobs we pulled through cavity wall, done it loads on my own jobs, before the cavity boys filled them up.

No Clark Of Works would allow cables in cavities, it could compromise the drip on the cavity ties, bad practice even back in the 60's.

Interesting, have rewired many property's of that era with rubber cables in cavity walls on big housing estates, so was it deemed bad practice back then, IMO not.

Well some clark of works must of allowed it otherwise you would not have a cable in a cavity in the first place.

Not good practice to run cables in cavities. Not saying it wasn't done though.

The now defunct Clark of Works could not be in all place's at the same time, cowboy electricians will do whatever they can to make their life easier including running cables where they should not be.

Gave you a like, because that was a well recovered reply.

I did not think I had anything to recover from.

Ha ha, reminds me we were doing a big rewire in Hertfordshire moving furniture to get carpets up etc lol the top draw fell open onto the floor, all rude things were in it, she was very posh too.
Sounds very interesting :)

If you work out what is needed for a normal working wage on your time you need to be charging around 50% (or more) extera to cover all of the overheads mentioned before.

Sadly many folk see the price and think "way too high!", but happily pay more than double that per hour for their car service, and never think of how much income their own employer has to to have in order to cover their salary.

Some customers think you pulling the wool over the heads with a sheep on top off it, soon when they go to the local garage and they pull their pants down, not the customer but them self, and showing
Thier back sides..,and laughing all the way to the bank.

Dirty minds come to mind, go on spill the beans. Lol.
Well there have been various friends and acts of unspeakable depravity :)

I would love to tell you, but, but for some reason I just can't speak about it...
