Going to a call out in a Chinese takeaway tonight, let know how we get on lol

We did a board change in my local one a while back. I have not eaten there since after seeing the state of the kitchen.

That's what I'm dreading, cockroaches, rats, still might be OK?

If it is filthy, don't be shy about reporting it.

There's a reason I use the Chinese takeaway I do. It has an open kitchen right behind the counter so you can see what goes on, and its all good :)

cockroaches are best crispy fried, whereas rats taste nicer if curried.

I wouldn't dream of going to a place that didn't have rats and cockroaches and all kinds of vermin. think about it, if the food is so bad that even the rats etc don't come to dine, it must be a pretty bad.

all professional kitchens are greasy etc end of. only open ones make extra effort to keep it looking clean

I've done lots of work for the local Chinese and Indian/Bangladeshi community and seen a lot of the kitchens in their restaurants. Some have been spotless, others have been reported.
One Chinese bloke tried to stiff me out of £200 for an EICR and learned the error of his ways. Shortly after this event his takeaway mysteriously got a visit from the Border Agency who found several illegal workers

indian restaurants are terrible for greese/muck etc

I worked in some flats above an Indian restaurant and the access was at the back of the shops , the large saucepans full off food was prepared during the day and some were placed on the driveway at the back all open , with dogs and all sorts passing by..

I think we all develop a bit of a blacklist of pubs etc where we don't eat. Funny how it usually corresponds with all of the ones we have worked in!

depends I will eat in one we have worked in if boss is paying XD over £20 for basic pizza!!

goodfellas for £3

I worked in a pub kitchen earlier this year, had to remove a broken Pattress and replace.
Undid all the screws and it wouldn't come off the wall, had to get a thin filling knife in behind it to break the seal of the layer of grease sticking it to the tiles.

For some reason I chose not to eat dinner that day!

Well our visit wasn't to bad, on the face of it the owners were very nice paid up no probs but I wouldn't want to eat there.

I've been in some really expensive high end hotel restaurant kitchens, and can categorically say, many are no better than some of the takeaways described above, bloody filthy!!

i ate in bankok a few years back rats actually ran around my feet a really big cockroach came out of the tissue box- food was fantastic

yeah i have seen that too, they make the stock for the curries in the morning and leave it around all day usually on the floor with the chicken defrosting.

I'm sure they all use the soap dispensers you don't have to touch and wash their clothes with the stuff that kills 99% of germs... pretty much balances things out in a way.... :)
