Can someone please clear up a query I have in relation to capping and the reason for… I was taught that you capped to protect the cables from the plasterers float then plastering, however following a discussion at work there was a consensus that it was to stop the chemical reaction between...
Can anybody help me with this......I understand the concept of the equation I2 ≤ Iz1.45, however what I’m not sure about is how we obtain I2?
The way I understand it could be either by multiplying In by 1.45 or multiplying In by 5 (which would be the worst case scenario of the MCB’s tripping...
I have a query around installing a socket outlet spur off a final ring circuit in a domestic installation which isn’t protected by any RCD’s at the DB. My understanding is that to comply with the current regulation the cable installed in the wall would need to be in the prescribe zones (which it...
Hi
What is the installation reference method for flat T&E cable, with capping and buried in plaster, am I correct in thinking it is method C as all the others in table F6 (page 150) in the OSG refer to insulation?
Steve
Thanks, this makes sense now.
Can i just ask one more thing, I also read somewhere that the PFC must be higher than the current required to disconnect the protective device, is this correct? Is this part of the equation process, as I thought this was established through meeting the required Zs...
I am trying to get my head around the Adiabatic equation and was hoping that someone could check my understanding?
I know the equation is S = √I² x t/k
S = the CSA of the CPC
I = the PFC which is calculated from Uo/Zs
t = now this is where I get a little confused, my understanding is...
We are currently looking a Switching in our 2330 L3, can someone please advise me as to whether an Emergency Switch is an on or off load switch?
As it is a normally closed contact and carries current I thought it was an on load switch because it is required to cut off the full load current, but...
Hi
Thanks, so I prosume that the impedence for both 3 and 4 should be low so that the high current flows to operate the protective devices in time?
Also, can you tell me what is the difference between an earth fault and a fault between line and earth?
Cheers
Hi
I'm curent sudying for my 2330 and we have starting looking at the above, however I getting a little muddled/confused. Can someone please help me with some definitions and the us of the following, why we look at them?
Prospevtive Short Circuit Current?
Prospective Earth Fault Current...
Hi
Could someone please help me to confirm the transmittion volages across the grid, my understanding is
400kV and 275 kV - super grid
132kV - natioanl grid
66kV and 33kV - secondary grid
11kV for local sub stations industry
400V for commercial
230V for domestic
I have also heard that...
Thanks for the reply, please bear with me, I have done some testing but still not sure as to why the R1 + R2 readings on a ring are similar/same at each socket? But on a radial they are different?
Do you cross connect the line and cpc to ensure a complete ring when testing R1 & R2?
Just started testing at college and not sure of the following in regards to the R1 + R2 testing:
1. Why are the readings in a ring the same or similar? Compared to radial?
2. Why do you cross connect line and cpc in a ring to carry out the R1 + R2?
Thanks
Steve
