Just wondering what folks would do if you came across this on your travels. 4mm radial sockets circuit, on 32A MCB. Two branches from the CU, one supplying 6 double sockets, wired entirely in 4mm, so fine. The other branch consists of a 1m run of 4mm to a double socket, then around 5m in 2.5mm...
Hi all,
Thank you in advance for your help.
This is my current setup:
32a MCB to 45a CCU with 6mm^2 wiring (no additional socket at CCU)
6mm^2 wiring to two separate sockets behind kitchen units (one for gas hob ignition one for 13a plug in oven, nothing else on circuit)
My new oven is 3640W...
Changed a CU today and noticed the kitchen sockets were wired in 4mm t&e surface mounted in trunking and on a 32A breaker. Now, the CCC for this is strictly only 30A (ref.method B). Would anyone be overly bothered about this? Common sense tells me that it is unlikely this cable will be asked to...
Hi all,
OK, so was sent to a job today for upgrading a kitchen. The existing mains was an older MEM board which the newer Eaton RCBO's wont fit. The only circuits being amended are the kitchen ring main (32 amp) and the lighting circuit (5 amp). The customer would not have been keen on...
So I have some servers in my shed and I simply can't run all these servers of a single 13A socket so I need to change my power solution here's a design I mocked up, I'm just wondering what cable to use from the consumer unit to the commando plug in the shed, The MCB is 32AMP so I'm just curious...
Hi,
I am trying to determine the Ka rating of the above fuse. For 400V I believe it is 80 Ka but have found that it is 40 Ka for 250V DC. Can anyone tell me what it is for 230V AC or where I can find the answer?
I have already looked on the web and in the latest OSG but maybe not in the right...
Hi all
We are setting up a IT training company and we are trying to work out how many devices he can have in training room. There are 5 double sockets in the room, and they all go back to a 32A fuse.
We want to have the following in the room, will this be ok with the fuses/amps etc.
45W...
Has anyone any views on max Zs for say a type c 32a rcbo at 80% is 0.54 and 100% 0.68. I am currently testing a collage and all ring circuits are type c and I am exceeding 0.54 and 0.68 this is a TNCS system so to my knowledge table 41.5 in regs which tells us 1667 for 32a rcbo for TT systems...

As above why is this as I have had a thought and a 20a 2.5 mm cable would be sufficient?
Even in my new built it has an oven and hob both 32a radials for each on 6mm cable? Each with a 13a plug on the appliance as diversity shows around 10a max.
so even with an upgraded appliance I don't see...

Hi I recently ripped out a ring final circuit out of an old Proteus 3ph board. Customer only wanted a single 2G socket replaced. The MCBs are obsolete so I had to re use the C32 used originally supplied the ring.
can I use 2.5mm cable?
32A radial but with 2.5mm cable- not something you would see...
I need to obtain 4 x switched interlocked 32A 230V (single phase) sockets for my garage. They are for a 28A rated welder, a large lathe and a large mill.
I'm having 4 sockets installed to give some flexibility on positioning.
However, the price of these 32A switched interlocked units varies...
Been to a job today "can you come and have a look at this please my sockets aren't working".
DIY Dave has been in and extended a ring from a point where the client wanted a socket removing.
New sockets now not working. So I proceed to chase around his bodged plastering. This is what I find.

Hi,
Im new to this forum and need to pick someones brains. I bought a 3ph 63a Distro in a flightcase with dimmer packs, sockets and RCD. It works well in venues with 3ph but I would like to use it in smaller venues which only have single phase. I have seen a converter [TABLE="width: 678"]

Hi all,
Does anyone know if anyone makes a 32A 3 phase plug that will attach to the end of flexible conduit? or... somewhere that does 6mm2 4 core H07 flex by the metre?
I've got a 10kW DC power supply to wire up. It's a 480v 3 phase unit bought off ebay. The people who've just bought it want...

I know this has been around but how is it reconciled that 4mm in plaster (with or without capping) can be used with 32A MCB when tables say cable rating is less than 32A?
Also:
I can't get my head around why a single socket spur on a single socket spur on ring is different to one double socket...

Hi all,
I did some work on a house the other day that had a circuit for sockets which was cabled in 4mm to half way in the house the split of it to 2.5 up to the sockets. It had a 32a breaker. I'm aware that you can have a 32a 4mm radial but that the whole circuit must be in 4mm. Using 2.5 on...
Morning all,
As we know, you can run a spur on a ring final cct from the top of the 32a breaker. But can you run a single socket radial cct from a 32a breaker? essentially making it a spur but without the ring being present.
Thanks
Story short, if any of you SE chaps based around the Brighton area can supply a 40-50m 32a extension cable (so a 4-6mm flex with a 32a blue commando on each end) - NOW, TONIGHT - I know someone who'll gladly part with money for it in a catering emergency!!
PM me asap.
