Hi chaps,

Just been to look at a kitchen which needs a few bits doing ie couple of new circuits etc.

Looking at the origin, TNS, and it appears to have 16mm tails with 10mm M.E. feeding a 60A MEM BS88 (i think) switchfuse, when then feeds to the 16th editionCU a few meters away in 16mm T&E.

Now, would you insist on the sub-main being replaced due to the main earth being undersized?

Have to say im not too sure.

Comments appreciated.

Ta :)

As it's a cpc it can be sized using the old adiabatic equation and may well be fine in relation to the PFC.

Does a 16mm t&e sub feed off a MCB need to have RCD protection?
IMO only if it's liable to be penetrated by nails or screws. i.e. buried in plaster etc.

agreed. move the main bond to the met/ switch fuse and check is the 16mm T&E cpc is ok for the 60A switch fuse pfc blah blah since basically this is simply a distribution cable like any other cable, unless the main bonding is left at the cu. could always earth the cu separately to the met to be belt and braces approach.
