Have you tried contacting the system manufacturer, or looking on the manufacturers website?? Do all the flats in the building have the same ventilation system?

Had to use Chrome to upload the image. Ventilation system is by 'Nuaire'. Gone through their web site, can't see anything there. I give them a call, just wondered if anybody seen something like this, I'm not sure if it is part of the ventilation system. All the flats have this ventilation system - all electric heating - have to say not very impressed, internal bathroom & ensuite and extraction of damp stale air is not very good. Housing agents don't seem to know. Not bothering the tenant, I'm just curious!

That's not like any Nuaire kit I've ever seen and I've installed/maintained a lot of Nuaire kit. Can't see it being anything to do with the ventilation system tbh, although it does bare a superficial resemblance to a Greenwood Unity or Airflow iCon fan, neither of which come with a nice green glow. What room is it fitted in?

In the living room, which has an open plan kitchen. JulianC as an aside, can you advise on the settings for the nuaire box. Know I shouldn't really mess around with them, but as mentioned the extraction for the bathrooms is pants. I turned the extraction fan boost dial up to 3/4, which at least seems to sound as if the ducts are extracting some air.

Impossible to advise of settings unfortunately. Air valves and fan speed need to be balanced and set up with an anemometer. Unfortunately, if my experience is anything to go by, many MVHR systems (particularly those in apartment blocks) have been thrown in by monkeys and have never been commissioned properly. Quite often it is impossible to meet design flow rates as they are so badly ducted, the fans can't overcome the restrictions or, in doing so, sound like a jumbo jet plane taking off. In which case, the best thing you can do is turn the boost up a bit, as you have done!

Ok thanks, its my sons flat. I said the extraction wasn't working very well, especially the toilets! So he informed the landlord who sent round an 'engineer', who had a look and said everything was working as it should be. As I said, seems a bit better since turning up the boost. I'll see if the landlord can tell us what the 'UFO' is.

I'd call the Nuaire technical line and get an email address, then send them the photo..... then they can tell you all about it...

..then you can tell us!

i said they were here, but nobody would listen. your example must have been damaged in flight, as usually they are cloaked and you can;t see them. some earlier versions are disguised as smoke detectors, just biding their time, assuming human form, infiltrating our society. we kept them at bay in the early 80's, fighting them with the weapon supplied by the friendly planet zog, in the neutral zone, th.jpgbut now we are losing the battle. those of us who are enlightened can spot them by the way they talk. janet street porter, ed miliband and nigel fagash are definitely aliens. human race beware.
