Discuss anyone ever took this course? in the Electrician Courses : Electrical Quals area at ElectriciansForums.net

I did mine with Brian Scaddan and paid only 420.-, that was last year. However, if you live close than that's it for you. They are C&G accredited so they seem to be genuine

I've done it, but it's not very indepth. No 3 phase testing, no MIC glanding etc etc. I'd do as ezzekiel says and go straight for 2391. It's good enough for basic domestic installs but not much use if you want to do commercial/industrial etc.

i thought the idea was you take this one before 2391? Ive done a bit of testing in college but haven't gone very deep into anything yet. i think there is quite a bit of testing involved at the end of 2330 level 3

Yup, that's the idea of the course providers who nick several hundred quid from you, give you a 2392 certificate which is pointless, only for you to invest a further few hundred quid to take the 2391 later. No employer looks for holders of 2392, its 91 or nothing.

Read and learn GN3, do sample questions on this forum, then do them again, once more for good luck and you'll breeze it !

You can buy GN3 for a score, or according to AmpDavid he's found one much cheaper at £20 :D

2392 pointless, literally pointless.

Yeah there's quite a bit of testing at the end of level 3. Alot of text book work and also 2 practical testing exam's ( full installation & periodic ) with lots and lots of faults to find and rectify.

And the best thing is at the end of it you are no more qualified to test than you were when you first started, classy eh.

2391 is what you need.

i was thinking of going down the college route but its 10 weeks over 1 evening a week. fancy something a bit quicker and more hours involved per day

That will be cheaper and give you more chance to learn and ask questions, plus the college lecturer will be more interested in you passing than just taking your money. Do it after you have finished your 2330 level 3 it will follow on well from that and, as already said, get a copy of guidance note3 and learn it.
