Hi! I have this connection I do want to remove but before I touch it, will want to know what it is and how to test it. Photo attached and there is a tag from the 60s on a wire grounded to the waterline to contact the telephone company for any service. There is no contact information on the tag and this was inside a wall that was removed for mold remediation. Thanks!

TL;DR
Knows bag this is and how to test it for currency?

It is very similar to the type of connector used by the GPO in the UK to connect the incoming telephone wires to the internal telephone wiring in the 1950s or 60s.
Tubular things are fuses, and there's probably a lightning arrestor there, using the earth connection.
Some in the UK are still in use, so, if you have a wired telephone, remove one of the fuses and see if it still works.

Thanks Brianmoore! We don’t use a landline in the house, I’ll remove the fuses and just take it all out since it’s not running any power through it.
