I've been a member for ages but received an email saying I needed to post on the Forum or my account would be terminated, so here we are. My main use of the forum is looking at discussions about topics that are relevant to me. I may be able to do that without an account but I want to be able to post if I want or need to.

I'm a retired electrical & electronic engineer, ex-member of the IEE (subs too high when retired) and used to do PAT testing on broadcast TV and audio equipment as well as some RCD testing. I have a house that is a bit of a project and am also interested in what's going on with solar & EV 'chargers' (we currently have the latter but not the former). Don't get me started on the fact that the EV charger is in the car, not screwed to an outside wall.

Welcome to the forum and thanks for saying hello! How do you find your solar panels?

You’re quite right… the charger is in the car…. The “charge point” is screwed to the wall.

And just to be pendantic, “solar” means anything to do with the sun…. The things on your roof are “photovoltaic” (PV) panels.

So you can watch BBC on your TV, while your PV charges your EV… drinking a VK or WKD (if you’re gen Z) or a cup of tea if you’re an OAP…..
