I was doing a PIR or is it a EICR any way there is a 3 phase commando socket hanging out the steel trunking and on removing the DB cover it is supplied directly from the main switch this is used for events inside a large games hall, so it should be on a OPD right but how do I rate it supply to this board is from a 63A MCCB as there is no way of telling what will be plugged in to this do I protect it by a OPD of under 63A

Hi Generally it's a inspection submission and quote for the remedials but as this is a bit scary I will insist is sorted ASAP and I will be disconnecting it untill I have the parts to hand

Is it a blue 16amp or red 32 amp socket be suprised if it is a 63amp type, and is it single or 3 phase.

Your OP device is governed by the rating of the socket ie blue 16amp red 32amp

It is a Red 3 phase E & N with 10mm conductors so it's a 32A then ??

It should be written on it to be honest the reds can go up 63/125 amps, as they are used a lot in broadcast lighting systems.

Have a look and see what is written on it. If someone is going to dangle a socket free in the air, and connect it direct to a switch I would not take much guidance of the size of cable they have used.

This is just one example of the of the kind of "additions" I come across regularly still keeps me out the pub during the day I suppose
