Certification advice needed

Have been to look a job were a certification is needed for previous work. The owner has sold their house but has no certifcate for the electrical work that was carried out about a year & a half ago. They have tried to contact the company without any success.

This is now holding up the move as building control are needing certification.

I know that you can't certify the work that was completed, but is there anything that can be done?

Ask the BC if they will accept a PIR from you.

See if a PIR is enough. Otherwise they will have to organise someone from Building control to inspect it. The last person I know who had to do that, building control made them lift boards and chase out walls so that they could inspect cable runs.

You could carry out a Periodic test and Inspection, there isn't a lot more that you can do really. Ask the building inspector if this is acceptable. If it isn't then someone is going to have an expensive bill as you will have to pull all the walls and floors up to check that all the installed cables etc etc are correctly installed to your satisfaction, then once you have seen everything and you are 100% certain that it is fully compliant you could issue an Electrical Installation certificate in my opinion, also make some allowance for the possibility of having to put right any non conformances.
